HISTORY OF THE VETERINARY MEDICINE
The Veterinary Medicine was born when the primitive man began to tame the first animal. The oldest registrations of our professional activity date from the Century XVIII AC, with information recorded in Papyrus Veterinarius of Kahun, with several references on the animal medicine." But the modern Veterinary Medicine had his/her origin in 1762 when Claude Bourgelat created, in Lyon, in France, the first School of Veterinary, installing, him own, Monday in Maison Alfort, in the surroundings of Paris, in 1765. Those two schools were constituted in true poles irradiadores for the other nations of the world. Until the end of the Century XVIII, appeared 20 schools veterinarian in Europe.
In Brazil, the idea of creation of dedicated establishments to the study of the Veterinary Medicine was wakened up when Emperor Dom Pedro II visited the Veterinary School of Alfort in 1875, only if rendering, meantime under the aegis of the Republic, with the Ordinance 8.319 of October 20, 1910, signed by the President Nile Peçanha.O document turned obligatory the teaching of the Veterinary Medicine. In the same year they were created the School of Veterinary of the Army and the Superior School of Agriculture and Veterinary, both in Rio de Janeiro.
The teaching was driven, initially, in different way in the two schools. The civilian was guided to animal production, mainly of the bovine ones. The imported animals were attacked by the ticks transmitters of the anaplasmose and babesiose, demanding an exhausting premunição work. Later, there was a great orientation for the clinic of small animals and the veterinary public health, with the campaign against the mormo, disease that attacked the horses and the soldiers. The best students of the School of the Army were sent for the Instituto Osvaldo Cruz, precursor of the formal masters degree in Brazil, many of the which were transformed later in outstanding scientists.
The first group of the civil school graduated in 1917. Three years later, he/she was founded the Brazilian Society of Veterinary Medicine - SBMV.
The first legal diploma to regulate the Medicine Veterinary vein with the Ordinance 23.133 of September 9, 1933. That date was chosen later as the Veterinary Doctor's day.
On October 23 de1968, there was the adoption of the law 5.517, that it establishes the second regulation and it creates Federal Council and Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine.
